Nancee (Nancy) Crowell:  

Upon graduation in 1958 I attended college...Chapman College (now University) in Orange, CA. I graduated from Chapman in 1962 with a BA in ECE and Elementary Education. I took my first teaching job at Palmyra School in Orange where I taught for three years. We then moved to the San Bernardino Mountains where I taught school for 23 years and raised my two sons. I was married to my first husband, Charles Thacker, for 23 years. We lived mainly in the San Bernardino Mountains in a town called Running Springs where I taught for 23 years. During the time my two boys were groing up I enjoyed participating in their various activities as their coach...(for soccer, baseball and skiing)...and as their Den Leader for Cub Scouts and Merit Badge Counselor while they were in Boy Scouts. In the early '80's I married my second husband, a cowboy named Robert Crowell and we were happily married for 25 years. He was a rodeo bull rider/saddle bronc rider/team roper who enjoyed the outdoor life as much as I did. When we married I adopted my step-son so now I had three wonderful sons to be proud of. We lived for a short time in Arizona on our ranch where we raised horses and a few head of cattle. In 1984 my husband broke his back and neck and became disabled,. In 1987 we returned to the Eastern Sierra area near Bishop, California so i could continue my teaching career. We settled on a small 5-acre ranch where we continued to raise a variety of animals...horses, goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits, cattle as well as a variety of dogs and cats. We set up "Rescue Haven"...an animal rescue for abandoned, abused and forgotten animals of all kinds. We made it into a "Petting Farm" where schools and children could come and visit a real "Animal Sanctuary."
